Frequently asked QUestions

Can an epoxy floor really handle a Wisconsin winter?

Yes, but the system has to be built for what comes through the garage door. Menomonie floors deal with snowmelt, road salt, grit, moisture, and freeze-thaw conditions every winter. Proper concrete preparation and the right coating system matter far more than simply buying a product labeled “epoxy.”

Usually, the failure starts underneath the coating. Poor grinding, contamination, trapped moisture, weak concrete, or coating over an unsuitable surface can prevent a strong bond. Armor of God Epoxy diamond-grinds the concrete and evaluates the slab before installation instead of treating preparation as an optional step.

Wisconsin slabs can be repaired, resurfaced, and coated. Cracks, pits, worn edges, old patches, and damaged areas need to be evaluated and repaired appropriately before the coating system goes down.

That needs to be dealt with before covering the slab. Moisture vapor moving through concrete can contribute to bubbling, delamination, or coating failure. Armor of God Epoxy offers moisture mitigation systems when the slab conditions call for additional protection.

A very smooth coating can become slick when wet. That is why traction should be considered before installation, especially in Wisconsin garages, patios, commercial areas, and other wet environments. Texture can be incorporated into suitable systems based on how the space will be used.

Sometimes, but temperature matters. The air, slab, coating material, and curing conditions all need to fall within the requirements of the system being installed. Cold concrete can slow or interfere with curing, so winter installations need to be planned around actual site conditions rather than the calendar alone.

Neither is automatically “better” for every floor. Epoxy can be an excellent base or decorative system, while polyaspartic is often valued for faster curing and UV stability. Garages, basements, patios, warehouses, and decorative spaces can call for different combinations. Armor of God Epoxy recommends the system based on the slab and the job the floor needs to perform.

An old coating should not simply disappear under another layer. Loose or failed material needs to be removed, the underlying concrete needs to be exposed and evaluated, and the new system needs a properly prepared surface to bond to. Armor of God Epoxy offers existing coating removal and floor resurfacing when needed.

It depends on the exact coating system, temperatures, and project conditions. Walking time and vehicle return time can differ significantly between epoxy, polyaspartic, urethane, and multi-layer systems. Your specific timeline is explained before installation so you are not guessing afterward.
